People to People was the vision of President Eisenhower to all Student Ambassadors to travel to promote peace across the globe. Each year hundreds of students who are nominated and selected to participate carry on that vision. These students are motivated to make changes in the world by seeing things through the eyes of those in other countries and by giving back. They have a solid foundation in community service and look for opportunities to volunteer.
The European Odyssey Delegation decided to make their service project helping animals and support local shelters by collecting needed items. The children collected for about three weeks, and were able to fill an entire van top to bottom with much needed items including food for strays, blankets and towels, sheets to cover the tables at spay neuter clinics, newspapers for animal cages, cleaning and office supplies, etc. While it may seem small to some - these items go a long way in helping to provide comfort and care to many animals.
A special thanks to this amazing group of young individuals, their parents and to Mr. Willie, Ms. Fiebs and Ms. Schmid, the Delegation leaders for their amazing support.
